APA Award to Landis: Founding Academy Fellow, Dan Landis will be honored with the Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology. The award will be confered at the American Psychological Associations 2012 Conference in August in Orlando, Florida. For more information, click on this news item.

Early Career Award made: The Early Career Award honored Julie Spencer-Rogers of the University of California at Berkeley. The award was conferred at the Singapore Conference.

Outsanding Dissertation Award Made: The 2011 Rae and Dr. Dan Landis Outstanding Dissertation Award went to Jesse Olsen of Kwansei Gakun University, Japan.

Academy book being published: The first Academy Book, Handbook of Ethnic Conflict will be published in January, 2012 by Springer

Important paper published: Academy Fellow Fons J. R. van de Vijver has co-authored an article in October, 2011 issue of American Psychologist entitled "Toward a new approach to the study of personality in culture in personality."

New Editor for IJIR: Colleen Ward is appointed the Editor-in-Chief of IJIR effective January 1, 2012.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to the Academy Fellow who has, in the judgment of the Academy Board, contributed significantly and enduring to the scientific and theoretical foundations of intercultural research throughout their career. Selection is made by a committee of Fellows appointed by the Academy Board. Nominations for this award can be made at any time by any Fellow of the Academy and should be forwarded to the President who will send them on to the committee chairperson. The award is made at the biennial conferences of the Academy.

The awardee is invited to give a plenary address after which he/she is given a plaque describing the award and a check for US$500.00.
